Membership Period
The CANCAS membership period is based on the academic year and thus runs from the fall to the spring semester of an academic year. (Note: If awarded a Yarbrough grant, the summer before an academic year is included in that year so that the Yarbrough recipients can begin to conduct research during the summer months; e.g. if receiving grant money to begin in the summer of 2009 a student would need to pay membership dues for the 2009-2010 membership period and could continue their research into the fall/spring semesters.)
Dues are due by November 15th of each year, and are past due January 15th. Membership dues can be paid separately from the Membership Forms.
Categories of membership
Individual membership ($10 per year)
Individual students may wish to join CANCAS. Although a faculty contact is not requisite to individual membership, if one is available, contact information should be included. In the case of a student seeking individual membership to accept a Yarbrough grant, however, it is necessary to list the faculty contact to facilitate distribution of Yarbrough funds. |

Group membership ($40 per year)
CANCAS group membership (which includes the more traditional club membership) affords a defined group of undergraduate students all CANCAS member privileges. Communication with student members is facilitated by a faculty contact person or club advisor.
A “group” for membership purposes is defined as a collection of students from a single institution that interacts together on a regular basis and is able to identify a faculty member to act as a central contact. Examples of groups may include science clubs, departments or divisions. The faculty contact person may be a club advisor or another individual within the department, but the contact person must be willing to facilitate communication with group members either through regular meetings, an email distribution list, or other forum. |
